Your Psychology Degree: Flexible, Modern, and Practice-Oriented

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology program at INU offers you a modern, fully location-independent, full-time online degree program. It provides both a solid foundation in the scientific principles of psychology and practical methodological skills.
You will explore core areas such as general psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, diagnostics, statistics, and research methods. The program is complemented by modules on industrial and organizational psychology, clinical psychology, and elective courses.

The program is designed with a flexible teaching approach: you’ll learn through digital course materials, videos, interactive learning formats, and online exams. Thanks to location- and time-independent structures, you can tailor your studies to fit your life perfectly. The program prepares you for a wide range of professional fields and career paths—such as human resources, counseling, healthcare, research institutions, or educational settings.

Admission requirements depend on the pathway and include either a general university entrance qualification, an equivalent degree, or a professional qualification. The program is state-recognized and provides the academic foundation for advanced master’s programs. Unfortunately, it does not lead to certification as a licensed psychotherapist.

Valid secondary school leaving certificate equivalent to German Abitur Direct admission possible for most EU qualifications

Studients from other regions

Depending on your country of origin you may start directly after having graduated school or you will have to complete two or three semesters of study in your home country first. Let us check if your higher education entrance qualification is equivalent to the German qualification. If you need to submit your foreign documents via uni-assist, we will refund up to €60 in your second semester, as long as you start your studies with us.

Since all of our programs are fully taught in English, we will require a proof of your language skills. German knowledge is not required. If your language skills are at CEFR Level B2 or above, one of the following currently valid language test certificates and scores can be accepted for your application:

Note: Further certificates at a qualified B2 level can be assessed individually by the INU. This could help reduce both the length and cost of your studies at INU. We would be pleased to review your previous achievements and advise you on possible credit transfers.

The INU Psychology program follows the recommendations of the German Psychological Society (DGPs) and offers you the freedom to study psychology full-time with us without being hindered by an admission quota or tedious waiting periods. Your spot in the program is open to you.

How does the psychology course at the INU work?

The psychology degree program at the INU combines scientific theories with practical applications. The full-time course includes online lectures as learning videos, interactive seminars and practice-oriented projects. There are also flexible digital learning formats that allow students to organize their time individually.

How many semesters does it take to study psychology?

The standard period of study is six semesters, i.e. 36 months. The distance learning course at the INU starts on April 1 or October 1. As this is a distance learning course, you can study from anywhere and are 100% flexible in the standard period of study.

What requirements do I need to study psychology?

A university entrance qualification is required for admission to a psychology degree course. This includes the Abitur or the Fachhochschulreife or an equivalent qualification. There is no NC for this degree course at the INU.

Is it possible to study psychology without an NC?

There is no numerus clausus (NC) for the Psychology degree program at the INU. Study places are allocated independently of the Abitur grade.
